Hispanic Heritage Month

‚Äč‚ÄčEach year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

Hispanics have become a powerful force in virtually every aspect of U.S. life. At 52 million, they now comprise more than 16 percent of the nation's total population, making them the largest ethnic or race minority in the United States. They account for a large percentage of new small business owners, generating roughly $351 billion in receipts annually. This year, Latinos were at the forefront at both the Republican and Democratic national conventions.
