Required Instructional Courses

A requirement for working in a school year or summer VPK program is documented completion of the following state required online training courses: 

  • Emergent Literacy for VPK Instructors
  • Florida Standards for Four-Year-Olds

No other course substitutes for these courses. 

Please note, there is a nominal fee of $10.00 for each course.

The link below is the website of the Department of Children and Families for these trainings and staff credential application. 

You must create an account with DCF in order to proceed. The CCTA Training Portal will have the courses listed. When the online course is successfully completed a certificate is available to print.  Course enrollees are advised to work at a computer with a working printer.  When the online course is completed, print 2 copies of the “Certificate of Completion”.

Please send the following to the VPK District office @ Herbert Street Center to the attention of Michelle Rossie:

  • Copies of the Certification of Completion for Emergent Literacy for VPK Instructors and Florida Standards For Four-Year-Olds
  • DCF Transcripts
  • Completed Staff Credential Application
  • Copy of your college transcripts (which may be obtain through Human Resources)

Logon to MYPGS (professional development) from the VCS website to qualify for in-service points.

  •   Register for Emergent Literacy for VPK Instructors
  •   Register for Florida Standards for Four-Year-Olds

When the VPK office receives your Emergent Literacy for VPK Instructors and Florida Standards for Four Year Olds Certificates of Completion you will received the alloted inservice points on MYPGS for each course.
