Page ContentThe Parents-to-Kids (PTK) Program is a literacy program for grades K-2 and grades 3-5. The program consists of 5 classes for 2 hours each. A PTK "Toolkit" is provided and contains all needed forms. An outline for each class of the program is also provided. Title I provides the funding for supplies, facilitators and childcare personnel.PTK program:Scheduling (date/time) is determined by the school/facilitators. On the first night there must be a minimum of 8 families in attendance for the program to proceed. A maximum of 12 families may participate.Two facilitators (teachers) will be paid $30.00 per hour, for 15 hours (2-hour class presentation, plus 1-hour planning time for each of the five sessions).A VCS employee may be hired for childcare at minimum wage; instructional staff will be paid $15.00 per hour, or a paraprofessional will be paid at their hourly rate. No children in diapers are allowed. Title I Parent Involvement will provide supplies needed for classes, and each family that attends ALL five classes will receive a canvas bag, books and a Ziploc filled with school supplies.
