Demographics

The demographics chart provides regarding race and ethnicity. The table compares school information to the current year district data.

In Florida, students must be classified into a single racial or ethnic category for some forms of data reporting. It is possible for a student to select the category of ‘Multiple’ if one category does not adequately reflect how they identify. The numbers in these sections may not equal 100% because of rounding and other small categorization possibilities.

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) provides the data in this section through their EdStats reporting. These data have been provided through the FDOE Survey 2 data collection that occurs in mid-October.

Student Achievement

The student achievement chart compares information in a number of different areas. There are different numbers of bars depending on the grade-band (elementary, middle, K-8, or high) due to differences in assessments given at each level. School performance over two years is compared to district performance in the current year. Please note that the comparisons are not always entirely similar between schools and districts as students may have different mathematics, science, and history progressions in middle and high school.

For all assessments, the percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher are displayed. There are five achievement levels for all standard statewide assessments. Students scoring at Levels 3, 4, or 5 are considered to have ‘Satisfactory’ or higher demonstrated knowledge of the material instructed.

The following assessments may be included in tables depending on the grade-band. Subjects with EOC after their name are considered End-of-Course assessments. These EOC assessments are required for all students taking courses associated with these exams.

All assessment data are provided by the FDOE per their assessment results reports. The data for these reports was pulled from the FDOE EdStats reporting tool which combines yearly windows.

Day 20 Attendance Rates

The attendance rate figure is often referred to as Average Daily Attendance (ADA). The chart provides the average daily attendance at each school on day 20 of the school year. School performance over two years is compared to district performance in the current year.

School Climate

School performance over two years is compared to district performance in the current year. The district surveys for parents, staff, and middle/high (6- 12) students will have a value between 1 (Strongly Disagree) to 5 (Strongly Agree). The surveys for early elementary (K-2) and elementary (3-5) students will have a value between 1 (Don’t Agree) to 3 (Agree). The district administers surveys created by AdvancED, the organization that accredits Volusia County Schools (VCS).
