Woodward Avenue Elementary offers a single gender program option for families. The single gender program began in 2004 in order to better address the academic needs of students. For the 2013 -2014 school year, Woodward offers single gender classes in grades K-4.
The single gender classes cover the same curriculum as the co-educational classes. However, the single gender teachers plan lessons and activities that are more specifically designed to address the learning styles of either boys or girls. Stetson University teacher education faculty provide research based training and support for single gender classroom teachers.
