Family Literacy Dinner- China
It was another fun evening event at Westside Elementary. On January 22nd, families came out
to participate in China Night (A Family Literacy Dinner). Through the efforts of the Literacy Council,
BCU student volunteers, and the faculty and staff of Westside, families were
engaged in a variety of activities to highlight China and reading
strategies. Students (and families)
listened to a special story about China where parents learned reading
strategies to support their child in language arts standards. Other stations included coloring the flag of
China, creating a panda craft, or eating Chinese egg rolls. Mrs. Winch, dressed in Chinese costume,
welcomed over 100 families and attendees.
