    Scholastic Reading Counts

We have many books in our media center that have reading counts quizzes available. You can also access the list at the Port Orange Public Library.

    SCES Reading Counts Club

Now that you know what Reading Counts is all about, here is how it works for SCES Bobcats:

    • Students read books from the media center, classroom, public library, home, etc.  Usually the books are Lexile-leveled and we have the quizzes on the computer.
    • After the student reads the book, he/she can then take a quiz on the book, in the classroom or in the media center.
    • If the student passes the quiz, she/he is awarded the points designated for that book.  A student can usually take the test twice, but not on the same day.  If a student has already taken a quiz on a book and passed, he/she cannot take the quiz again.

About Spruce Creek Elementary Reading Counts Club:

    • Students will be able to use their points at the Reading Counts Store at the end of each nine week period.  This gives the students the opportunity to choose the prize they receive.
    • Students who are the highest points winners at their grade level will receive recognition at the Reading Counts Celebrations at the end of the year.
    • The top three students with the most Reading Counts Points in the entire school will receive Reading Counts trophies at the Awards assembly at the end of the year.
    • Any student who earns 500 points during the year will get to become the Media Specialist for a day!
