In the event of a school evacuation, Atlantic High School serves as Silver Sands Middle School's primary evacuation site. Should Atlantic High School not be available, Spruce Creek High School is the secondary evacuation site for our students and staff. Volusia County Schools’ Variance applications are now being accepted for 2017/2018 school year. Early application is encouraged. (but does not guarantee approval).

Scroll down to Toolbox, Select: Volusia Instructional Management (VIMS)
Login ID: the number 1 and your child’s alpha code ex: 1ABCD
Password is your child’s 8 digit date of birth ex: MMDDYYY
It should show your child’s profile information.
On the top, go to the Applications tab- at the bottom of the drop down box choose grades
Select Grade Summary on the left: this will display the overall grade for each class. Click on the grade to go into that class.
Once in the class click on the assignment you want to review- many teachers use the narrative to give information about the assignment.
On the Left hand side you also have OPTIONS
Choose Email Subscriptions:
You can choose what subscriptions you want, such as when you want a grade report sent to your email address or what is the minimum grade for each class.
To contact teachers use the Schedule summary option, click on that teachers name and it will open an email window.
NOTE: process for releasing student directory information has changed
Parents are no longer required to sign a form giving permission; instead they must opt-out if they do not wish their child’s information to be released. A form is still required for news media to interview or photograph children.

In partnership with Novachi, the department is launching the DOE Parent Portal, Just for Parents. This public forum is designed for parents to ask questions and voice ideas at the state level. The portal features a parent blog, discussion board, and announcements page with more education resources coming soon. Parents may logon for access to this free user-friendly site.
Operating hours are from 8 AM to 4 PM daily.
All medications require written physicians' and parents' signature. Non-prescription medications must be dispensed from the Clinic also. Forms are available in the Clinic or from any House secretary.
Bus transportation is provided for students, however, riding the bus is a privilege that may be revoked at any time for disruptive or unsatisfactory conduct. Since safety is our primary concern, all students who are transported by bus are under the authority of the bus driver and the school. Students who are transported to and from school are expected to abide by the “Code of Student Conduct,” School Board Policy 208, the rules of the Transportation Department, and all school rules.
Emergency Bus Board Passes—If there is an emergency in your family and you wish your child to use a different bus stop then he/she is assigned—please do the following:
Send your child to the 7th grade house with a note explaining the emergency and the dates you need the pass.
The child will be given a boarding pass to complete. The child is responsible for the knowing the route number and the bus stop he/she needs.
The child returns the completed boarding pass to the 7th grade house to get it signed.
Remember that the district is only obligated to provide bus service to and from your home address.
First Step: Visit the Volunteer & Partnership Program Department and/or school or district site of your choice and request that your identification, with photo, be scanned under the Visitor Module - an ID needs to be found in the Raptor Visitor Module before the online application can be submitted and the volunteer approval process can be completed.
Second Step: Visit a Raptor Kiosk at any district site, click on the Application icon, complete the information, and submit the application. VIPS staff will review the application and the volunteer will receive an email when the application on has been approved (1-2 day process).
Volunteers must have Driver’s License scanned at a district school before the application can be submitted. Once ID has been scanned, the application can be accessed at the school raptor kiosk or online with the following link:
**Please remember if you fill out application prior to having ID scanned the application will not be processed until the applicant can be found in the visitor module of Raptor.
