The 2016—2017 school year will be the best yet at R.J. Longstreet. We began the first week of school with Positive Expectation Assemblies. During this time students learned about guidelines and procedures that ensure a safe and orderly school, but we also talked about the importance of the "Power of Yet." As Alana Lopez told her second grade peers, "We don't know it now but we will learn it." The Power of Yet is something we shared with students last year and are continuing. It is part of that productive struggle. Our students, with the support of teachers and staff, will be able to work through any challenging concepts in English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. They have lots to learn but instead of saying "I can't do it" we want them to persevere through the challenges knowing understanding will come. The Power of Yet! It works for adults, too.
