Two Pine Ridge students were chosen for the Champions of Character Luncheon that coincides with the NAIA National Championship Football Game on December 17. Our kids were nominated, submitted application and were chosen to represent Pine Ridge High School. Their parents and administration attended the luncheon at The Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. They should be congratulated for their efforts getting them to this point as they go against the best from other Volusia County Schools..

On Wednesday, November 16th, we performed our one act, “This is a Test” and received an excellent rating on the performance, and a superior performance on the technical performance of the show. On Saturday, November 19th, our troupe competed with 24 individual events and brought home 10 superior ratings and 6 excellent ratings. Mashell Rodriguez scored another hat trick and Naya Hurley scored one goal to give the Panthers their 3rd consecutive home game win. Brooke Walden made 22 saves in goal and she made an another spectacular penalty kick save against Seabreeze to keep the Panther undefeated at home.

Senior Wide Receiver Robert Walker was selected to represent Pine Ridge in the 2016 Central Florida All-Star game. Robert was selected as one of the best players in Central Florida by a panel of high school media members. This is a huge accomplishment as he will be playing along side some of the best players in the state. Robert finished the year with 49 catches for 849 yards and 14 touchdowns which led all area receivers. The game will be played December 8th at Lake Brantley High School.
PRHS Girls Soccer wins consecuitive home game 8-0 against Leesburg High Schoo.Goals were scored by Ivy Grace Morgan, Nayarith Hurley and Hannah O'Conner. Marshall Rodriguez scored a hat trick and Alysia Isosencio scored two goals.
Sophomore Quarterback Dillon Torres was recognized as one of the area players of the week by the Daytona Beach News Journal. Dillon came in with two minutes left in the 3rd quarter and threw for 149 yards and 3 touchdowns.

PRHS AVID senior and band member Gabby Mejia has been selected to the Florida State University Tri-Sate Honor Band! Gabby and a parent will travel to Tallahassee during the first week in December. This is a terrific honor! Congratulations Gabby! Congratulations to Coach Bolanos and girls soccer team for their 8-0 conference and district win over Taylor High last evening! PRHS varsity football senior wide receiver Robert Walker is the number one ranked receiver in the area. He has 669 receiving yards on the season with 12 touchdowns. Senior Will Rauseo is the eighth ranked quarterback with 1,134 passing yards and 13 TD passes.

Congratulations to the PRHS Marching Panthers, under the direction of Paul Robinson, for earning a SUPERIOR rating at the FBA Marching MPA Competition on Saturday, 10/29/16. Well done!
She competed at the USAW North Carolina state championship. The meet featured 120 weightlifters from across the state of North Carolina to compete for the title of best lifter in the state of North Carolina. The two day event was the largest State weightlifting meet in history. She won first place in her weight class as well as best female weightlifter. Her team, Harrisburg Weightlifting Club, won the NC state championship for the Women (Best female weightlifting team). She is now training for a USAW Nationals event which will be held the weekend of December 10th in Orlando, Florida. This event includes weightlifter from all over the United States who met the qualifying total to compete at this National Event called the American Open.

JV Football - last night in our game against Deltona High our JV Panthers overcame an 18-7 defecit with seven minutes left in the game to win 21-18. Outstanding performances were turned in by Blake Lee, Darius May, David Rivera, Tre Robinson, Vinny Roggozino, Rilei Levesque and the entire offensive line.
Congratulations to Mr. Maynard, Mr. Smith and the robotics competition team for their third place finish in the Volusia Manufacturing Association’s event on Friday! The Panthers were led by Nathan Osterhous, Richard Riley, and Kane Dejesus.
Good news for PR athletics yesterday. The volleyball teams swept Mainland 3-0 in the varsity match and the JVs won 2-0. In bowling, the girl’s and boy’s teams both swept Spruce Creek 7-0! Congratulations to the coaches and players. Homecoming week is off to a great start.

Charnese Williams, Pine Ridge High School Alumni (Class of 2015), was featured in the Foundation for Seminole State College, Campaign Impact Report, Magazine for her internship work with Interior Designer, Amber Clore. Charnese was an AVID student from grades 7 through 12, serving as PRHS’s AVID President her senior year. While in high school she juggled a multitude of Honors and AP classes, a part time job, while also being very involved in our school and community. Charnese participated in National Honor Society, Key Club, Panthers Learning Center Tutor, Wrestling (placing 2nd in the state), Flag Football, and Weight Lifting. Today, Charnese is a sophomore at Seminole State College working on completing her AA degree. She will be transferring to Florida State University to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design. Charnese is still actively giving back to her community and her Alma Mater; she is an AVID Tutor, a substitute teacher, and Student Mentor. I am SO proud of this wonderful young lady and all of her hard work and dedication! Go Panthers! Go AVID!

Congratulations to the JV Football team and their 42-6 victory over Matanzas last night. Jeremy Gardner scored two touchdowns, Blake Lee, Darius May, Vinnie Roggozino, and Chase Marsil each scored a touchdown as well. Kicker Rilei Leveaqque was a perfect 6 for 6 on her extra kicks. WTG!

Congratulations to Coach Yancey and the varsity football team on their thrilling 35-21 come from behind victory over Cocoa Beach High School on Friday evening. The team was up 20-6, but fell behind 21-20 with about seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter. They scored twice in the last few minutes of the game to win. Sophomore Stevon Dennis ran a kickoff back for a touchdown, seniors Will Rauseo and Robert Walker teamed up for three touchdown passes, and senior Devon McGirt sealed the victory with a fumble recovery return for a touchdown. The team is off this week. We host district rival Mainland High here in Panther Stadium on Friday, September 16th. Congratulations to Coach Holly Taylor and the cross country team on their performance at Spruce Creek on Saturday. Sophomore Kortnee Powers finished 11th out of 127 runners. Junior Christina Vega finished 15th. All the runners improved on their times.
