    Principal's Message

    Dear Osteen Elementary Families:
The month of September was challenging so it’s good to be headed into October with a return to normalcy.  Hurricane Irma came to Central Florida and wreaked havoc on many of us.  I hope you and your family have fully recovered from this hurricane and if not, please let us know so we can assist you in the recovery process.  The damaging effects of this storm altered our academic plans, but we are now refocused and continuing to build the academic momentum necessary to make this an outstanding school year.  Our teachers and staff have a high level of enthusiasm and professionalism to assist your children.
Last year in this newsletter I emphasized the importance of our students attending school on a regular basis.  Regular attendance at school helps children do well academically and socially, and this habit eventually translates to success in the workplace.  Another part of students having regular attendance at school is on time, daily attendance.  I do notice too many students arriving late to school so I’m encouraging all parents to make a concerted, consistent effort to have their children arrive in the classroom by 7:55 a.m.  I hear often from teachers that the tardy student can cause an interruption to the activity that has already started in the respective classroom.  Thanks to all for your consideration and future efforts in this matter.
I want to remind our parents about one major change to our October calendar: Monday, October 16 is now a make-up day for Hurricane Irma.  There will be school on this day and it will be the last day of the first quarter.
    Go Broncos!
