    Principal's Message

    Dear Osteen Elementary Families:

Welcome back!  I hope you had a wonderful summer.  We certainly have renewed enthusiasm among our students and teachers.  Our kindergarteners are excited and learning the routines of elementary school; their parents are equally excited and looking forward to a rewarding experience at Osteen Elementary.  Our school district’s motto this year is “Together We Can” and this is appropriate because we want to work together to assist our students in achieving their academic potential.

Most of you are familiar with our Early Release Wednesday schedule, but for the newcomers there are 33 Wednesdays throughout the school year where we release students one hour early .  In reviewing the schedule every Wednesday through March, 2018 is an Early Release Wednesday so dismissal will be at 1:05 p.m.  We will keep you updated regarding the schedule during the months of April and May.

For our parents who drive their children to school please use the east entrance closest to SR 415.  This is the designated entrance for Parent Drop-off and Parent Pick-up.  The Parent-Drop off time in the morning is 7:30—7:50.  Our warning bell in the mornings rings at 7:50 and the tardy bell rings at 7:55.  If students are dropped off after 7:50 a.m. they will have to move quickly to make it their classroom on time.  In the afternoons we want our drivers to stay in their vehicles and ensure that children are picked up on the curbside/passenger side of the vehicle.  Also, please move your car forward as far as possible as this makes the entire process more timely.  Your child will walk to the front of the Parent Pick-up area and meet you near the front.  One more point:  please do not park your car in the front parking lot or anywhere else and then walk to the Parent Pick-up area.  This becomes dangerous for all concerned.  And the last request: please don’t text and drive on our campus.  Our representatives from the Safety Department noted seven drivers in one afternoon who were texting while their vehicle was moving…..Safety is our only priority!

Enjoy the month of September.  I’m hopeful we’ll feel some cooler temperatures.

    Sincerely,
    Mr. Bambrick
