Horizon Parent Information Guide.pdf
Welcome to the Horizon Elementary Family. The information below should help you become acquainted to our school.
Our main goal has been, and always will be, increased student achievement. This can only be accomplished through hard work from our faculty and staff and the support of our parents and community members. We encourage you to be involved with our school in as many ways as you can.
The individual checking the student out MUST have photo identification with them and be listed on the emergency card with pick-up authority.
The Parent Drop Off/Pick Up Loop is the single point of entry during the instructional day. All other gates will be locked at the morning tardy bell and re-opened just prior to the dismissal bell. This is done for security measures.
Parent parking is available to the left of the Main Office at all times. The Bus Loop parking lot has no access to the school after the tardy bell and won’t reopen until just prior to the dismissal bell due to single point of entry.
Families now have the ability to keep up to date with school activities by visiting Horizon’s Website (directions are below). Scroll down on the homepage to the lower right where calendar information is and click on Show Calendar.
Call if you have any changes to contact phone numbers. The school must have a way to contact parents in case of an emergency situation.

Thank you to all our Volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a Volusia County School Board Volunteer at your child's school, please take a few minutes to complete this Online Volunteer Application. For assistance, please visit the campus where you wish you volunteer.
You must sign in as a visitor in the Main Office each time you are campus. You will need to provide photo identification each time. This is a security measure.
Per School Board Policy, smoking is not permitted on any School Board property at any time. This includes in vehicles while on campus or in the parent pick up loop.
This year Horizon will be provided with a school guardian. This individual will provide additional security and surveillance to the school campus and parking areas. They will help supervise and manage students while on campus.
Connect Ed Calls will contain important information, please listen to them.

The Extended Day Enrichment Program (EDEP) is offered at 40 Volusia County Elementary Schools. The EDEP offers a safe environment with supervised after-school enrichment activities including, but not limited to, homework monitoring, tutoring, community service projects, arts and crafts, music, drama, outside recreational activities and much more! Currently, almost 3800 students attend Volusia County Schools EDEP. Each program also uses an after school literacy program, KidzLit, to help build students' comprehension and vocabulary development. The programs begin at the end of each school day and close at 5:45 p.m. Some sites have morning programs, as well. Contact the Site Facilitator at your child's school to see if there is availability and let the fun begin.
Horizon's Site Facilitator is Judy Peludat. She can be contacted at 386-322-6150 ext. 33942 or via email at email@example.com.
