    Principal's Message

    Dear Knight Family,

Happy New Year! I trust your holiday season was relaxing, rewarding and refreshing. As the new year begins, I look forward to serving with you and our community. When I met with Mr. Russell and Mr. Myers, both shared about the exciting opportunities and transformation that is underway at Holly Hill School. As your new principal, I anticipate building upon the successes from last year helping to lead the Knights into the future.

I have been a professional educator for 12 years. In 2013, I became principal at Edgewater Public after serving as Principal Intern at Spruce Creek High School for two years. As Principal, my priority is to maintain the academic focus and build an outstanding learning environment for all students at Holly Hill with a STEM focus (Science Technology Engineering and Math) while encouraging our students to be active in community service.

My undergraduate degree was earned from Warner Southern College – Florida in Organizational Management. I earned my post graduate degrees from Liberty University and Nova Southeastern University.  The areas of my certification are Exceptional Student Education, Educational Leadership and School Principal. I began my education career at Deltona High School before moving to New Smyrna Beach Middle School where I served as a teacher and an assistant principal for six years. I also spent a year as the director of Storefront West for dropout prevention.

While at Edgewater Public School, I helped guide them to be the first certified STEM elementary school in the state of Florida through the accreditation program of Advanc-ED. Edgewater Public will be the first digital blended school in Volusia County and the only elementary school to establish an Agriscience program, along with starting one of the first Introduction to Computers courses for elementary.

Just to share a little about my personal life…I was born in Brevard County, Florida and graduated from Astronaut High School in 1983. Family is important to me. My wife, Susan, and I have been married over 30 years. We have three sons (Jeff Jr, Jimmy and Nathan) and the family is growing; with daughters-in-law (Pam, Colleen, and Samantha) and granddaughters (Emma Jo and Cybil), the newest additions to the family.  My oldest son is serving in the United Sates Army. Our middle son lives and works in the insurance industry in the Charlotte area and our youngest son is a high school teacher in Leon County, Florida.

I am excited about the opportunity to serve at Holly Hill School. I am certain that together our future is bright!

    Respectfully,

    Jeff Reaves

    Knight Family,

Thank you for welcoming me this year to the Holly Hill Knight family. Although this will be my first year serving as an Assistant Principal at Holly Hill School, this is a return home for me as well.  I am a proud product of Volusia County Schools and a former student of Holly Hill Jr High. It is an honor to serve within a community that I have called home for many years.

After graduating from Mainland High School, I received undergraduate degrees from Florida A& M University and the University of Central Florida.  I earned my post graduate degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

I have spent all of my years as a professional educator with Volusia County Schools. I have been fortunate to serve in a number of different capacities and instructional levels to include: School Counselor, Teacher on Assignment and Assistant Principal.

My faith, family and education are the foundations of my life. My parents and many extended family members have served within Volusia County Schools.  My immediate family has continued the same tradition. My husband currently serves as Assistant Principal at Campbell Middle School.  I look forward to continuing to serve the students, staff, family and community of Holly Hill School.

    Go Knights!

    Mrs. Angela Polite

    Holly Hill Knights,

I am happy to continue as an Assistant Principal at Holly Hill for the 2016-2017 school year!  I appreciate the opportunity to work with our students, teachers, and parents.

I was born in Valdosta, Georgia but began calling DeLand, Florida, home by age 7.  I am a graduate of DeLand High School.  I received my elementary education degree from the University of Central Florida.  I then earned my post graduate degree from Stetson University in educational leadership.

All of my professional experience has been in our Volusia County Schools.  I began teaching at Blue Lake Elementary.  I was part of the first class of students that entered Blue Lake Elementary when it opened its doors so it was very rewarding to return there to work.  I left to gain middle school experience at DeLand Middle School.  I followed my 5th graders to 6th grade!  It was also a school I attended as a student.  After several years, my oldest daughter was ready for kindergarten so I moved to teach at Orange City Elementary to be with her.  Several years later, I ventured back to the middle school world at Deltona Middle School.   There I taught math and language arts.  Then, I became a math coach and worked with Deltona Middle teachers.  I have only served as an Assistant Principal at Holly Hill School.

I enjoy my experiences with the students, families, and staff at Holly Hill School and look forward to many more!

    Ms. Brenda Barkley

    To Our Knight Community,

I have been in the education profession in Volusia County for almost 20 years. In 1997, I began my teaching career at Tomoka Elementary School where I taught in the intermediate grades. In 2006, I was appointed as the Assistant Principal at Discovery Elementary school in Deltona, Fl. While there for 3 years, I developed an enjoyment for working with technology in the classrooms. In 2010, I was assigned to newly opening River Springs Middle School in Orange City, Fl. I worked there for 5 years either as the 6th or 7th grade assistant principal. I was able to gain secondary grade level knowledge through many of the experiences I could share with my fellow administrators. I'm currently in my 4th year at Holly Hill School, I have been able to establish and foster rapport and relationships with our families, community and school staff. I enjoy when I'm out in the community and I see our families in the local grocery stores, mall, or just walking down the street.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Bethune Cookman College. I then enrolled at Nova Southeastern University to complete my Master's degree in Elementary and Middle School Curriculum. Lastly, I earned an Educational Specialist Degree from Nova Southeastern University in Educational Leadership.

I look forward to continuing to support our students, families, and school staff as we continue to move ahead in the right direction. GO KNIGHTS!!!

    Respectfully,

    Steffan Mallory
