In August, our Governor signed into law a requirement that all Elementary Students receive instruction in Substance Abuse Prevention. To meet these requirements, Volusia County Schools has worked in partnership with Stewart Marchman to develop a curriculum that is specific to our elementary students. During the week, your student will participate in a presentation that discusses health, good decision making and information concerning substance abuse. The content of the presentation is adjusted based on the grade level of your student. We are committed to ensuring that our students are equipped with the knowledge to make good healthy decisions. We encourage you to have a dialogue with your student about the content that was discussed and further emphasize the importance of healthy decisions. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our assistant principal, Ms. Beeghly or school counselor, Ms. Westervelt.
