School Advisory Committee
The School Advisory Committee (SAC) meets once a month on the second Thursday. The SAC committee consists of teachers, students, parents, and support personnel elected by their peers. 51% must be parents/community members not employed by the school. The SAC committee assists in the preparation and evaluation of the school improvement plan; assists in the preparation of the annual school budget; and decides how school improvement funds will be spent. For more information, please contact Mrs. Wright in the office.
Volunteer
Enterprise Elementary School participates in the Volusia County Public Schools' volunteer program called VIPS Volunteers in Public Schools. VIPS volunteers meet the needs of students through tutoring, participating in interesting groups, preparing educational materials, and doing anything else suited to their talents and interests. Volunteers supplement the work of classroom teachers and school staff by providing an extra pair of hands to help meet students' needs.
Your role as a school volunteer is most important. As a volunteer, you perform many services that enrich, extend and help individualize the curriculum. You can make a difference in the educational process!
"Volunteers (including field trip chaperones) must compete the volunteer application process and be cleared through Professional Standards prior to volunteering. This process is renewed every five years, although mentors are required to complete an application annually. If you are a new applicant or applying to a new school, contact the school for an application or download the form and instructions off the district's website at Volunteer/Partnership Programs. The school's volunteer coordinator will contact you if your volunteer clearance requires a five year renewal. Please allow three weeks to process your volunteer application."
For more information about becoming a volunteer contact the Enterprise Elementary VIPS coordinator: Phone 386-575-4135
Wellness Plan for School Year 2019-2020
The district's wellness policy encourages nutrition education curriculum programs and to provide opportunities for physical activities. The policy also recommends using rewards and incentives that are not food-related and limiting sweet treats for refreshments and parties. The school's wellness goals for the upcoming school year are:
- Dental Health: Have a dentist visit the first-grade classrooms to teach the importance of brushing, flossing and overall dental health.
- Use the cafeteria to provide learning opportunities by decorating the area with wellness educational posters and nutrition materials.
- Schools will make provisions for Elementary school students to have supervised recess, preferably outdoors, during which schools should encourage moderate to vigorous physical activity.
- Assure students have at least 10 minutes to eat after sitting down for breakfast and 20 minutes after sitting down for lunch.
- Promote healthy living among employees through regular exercise opportunities, health screenings and health education tips. Provide staff with wellness tips via all staff emails.
