The Volusia County School Board supports and encourages increased participation by parents, community, and staff members in the development of plans to improve students’ achievement.
Each school shall establish a School Advisory Council, composed of teachers, education support employees, students, parents, and other citizens who are representative of the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by the school.
Parents and community members interested in serving on the Deltona Middle School Advisory Committee should contact Mr. Schicker at extension 43289. Monthly meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. in the Media Center.
The following dates have been set for meetings.
The annual School Advisory Council climate survey is now available for parents of students at all school sites. As part of each school's annual SAC process, we ask parents to give their input in this survey. Each school's survey results will be reported separately and used in the creation of next year's School Improvement Plans. Survey results will be reported at each school site before the end of the school year. Please click on "Climate Survey" to go to the parent survey. Thank you for your input!
The school improvement plan shall be designed to achieve the state education priorities and student proficiency on the Sunshine State Standards. Each plan shall address student achievement goals and strategies based on state and school district proficiency standards. The plan may also address issues relative to other academic related matters as determined by district school board policy and shall include an accurate, data-based analysis of student achievement and other student performance data.
Each School Advisory Council shall assist in the preparation and evaluation of the school improvement plan required pursuant to s. 1001.42(16) and shall assist in the preparation of the annual budget and plan as required by s. 1008.385(1).
