    Changes in Dismissal Procedures

We have safety concerns regarding our afternoon dismissal.  As you are aware, our sidewalk in front of the cafeteria has become quite congested as we try to load students into their vehicles and still accommodate parents that are walking to meet their children.  Students get bumped by guests moving on our sidewalk and can move beyond our yellow safety line, truly putting students at risk for serious injury.  For this reason, we are moving our parent meeting area to the end of the cafeteria, just beyond the mural on the wall.  Students that are car riders will exit out the door closest to the stage and will line up against the wall as they wait for their cars to arrive.  Students that are walking to meet their parents will exit the door closest to the mural and move out on the sidewalk to be greeted by their parents.  Our parent pick up line does move quickly and is the safest option for our families.  We dismiss at 2:05 and students are typically picked up by 2:15 on most days.  As a reminder, if you are in the parent pick up line we ask that you remain in your vehicle and do not exit.  If you wish to meet your child, we are asking that you go to the parent meeting area.  I realize the shift in a holding area may be inconvenient for some guests, but it creates a safer dismissal plan for students, and safety is our primary concern.  Thank you in advance for your assistance in keeping our Pirates safe.

    Thank you.

    Let's teach flu a lesson!

For the health of all of our students, a free flu vaccination is being offered for students.  With parent consent, the pain-free FluMist vaccine will be administered during the school day by a nurse.  In order for the vaccine to be administered, parents/guardians must complete a consent form and return it to the school.   The free vaccine will only be offered one time on October 22, from 11:30- 2:00.    The vaccine is being provided by Healthy Schools, in partnership with the school board and health department of Volusia County
