General Information
The Blue Lake Elementary School Media Staff seeks to make the media center the heart of the school creating a culture of reading and literacy. The primary goal of the media center is to establish a love of reading and enjoyment for the media center as a fun place to read and learn.
The media center is open to students from 7:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Kindergarten through fifth grade will participate in media classes and full use of the center. Students will receive age appropriate instruction on the use of the media center, literature enrichment, study skills, and STEM/technology related lessons.
The media center is open early and after school. Students may also come during lunch and/or recess. When students visit the media center, they may read, take Reading Counts quizzes, and check-in and out books. Finding a just right book is always encouraged.

Reading Counts prizes are distributed the first week of every month. The Reading Counts Ice Cream Sundae Reward Party is the first Friday of every month. Here is a list of prizes for Reading Counts points.
Students can keep their book(s) for two weeks maximum. If they are not finished with the book after that time period, they need to renew it for another two weeks. Students in grades K-1 may check out one book at a time. Students in grades 2-5 may check out two books at a time. Read them and return them.
