Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year, Merit Pay will no longer be available.Merit Pay Application for 2014-2015General InformationUnder the terms of the contract between the School Board of Volusia County and the Volusia Teachers Organization, employees in the bargaining unit may be eligible to receive a bonus up to a maximum of $200 (less the district and employee cost for FICA and routine federal withholding tax or a pro-rata amount based upon the number of employees qualified for the bonus and the pool of available dollars.Eligibility RequirementsApplicant must be currently employed in a full time instructional positionApplicant must earn a minimum of 40 Merit Pay Incentive PointsApplicant must have received an "Overall Satisfactory Evaluation" on the most recent performance evaluationApplicant must have current certificationIn order for an employee to be eligible for merit pay, the employee must have earned a total of 40 merit pay incentive points under the following incentive system between July 1 and June 30 of the current year. Merit Pay Incentive Points Attendance Incentive - up to 40 points MAX - 10 points for each attendance period in which no sick leave or personal leave is used.Mentor Teacher Incentive - up to 20 points MAX10 points for successfully serving as a Mentor Teacher to another teacher for a minimum of six months during the current school year. The school-based administrator at the work site must sign to verify the teacher successfully served as a mentor teacher. Points may be earned for mentoring a maximum of 2 teachers.College Coursework Incentive - 20 points MAX20 points for successful completion (grade of C or above) of one three-hour college course completed between during current fiscal year, where no compensation or reimbursement was received. The course was taken at an accredited college or university.In-service Incentive - up to 20 points MAXUp to 20 points (1 point for each hour) for professional learning taken during current fiscal year. The in-service must be relevant to the employee's current assignment, where no compensation for attendance was received, and taken outside of the workday.National Board Certification - 20 points MAX 20 points for completion of the portfolio process and written assessment for National Board Certification during the current school year.Supervising Teacher Incentive - up to 20 points MAX10 points for successfully serving as a supervising teacher for a senior intern for a minimum of 3 months during the 2013-2014 school year. Points may be earned for supervising a maximum of 2 senior interns.Other RequirementsOverall Satisfactory Performance Evaluation - The applicant is required to have an "Overall Satisfactory Evaluation" in his or her most recent performance evaluation. Current Certification - Applicants must have current certification.Employment - Applicant is employed in a full-time instructional position.
