    • Overage Dependent Rules

    ​​As of 2/1/2015


    Up to age 26 under Health Care Reform​​​​​

    ​Up to age 30, Florida Statute

    • ​​​​​​​​Unmarried without dependents of their own and
    • A Florida resident or a full-time student; and
    • ​​​​​Not covered under any other health plan or policy; and
    • ​​​​​​Not entitled to coverage under Medicare


    Coverage up to age 25, the dependent terminates the end of the calendar year they turn 25.    

    Unmarried children can continue coverage from the beginning of the calendar year in which occurs their 26th birthday to the end of the calendar year in which occurs their 30th birthday if:

    1. ​the child does not have any dependents of his own; and
    2. ​​ the child is a Florida resident or full-time or part-time student; and
    3. ​​​ the child is not provided coverage as a named subscriber, insured, enrollee, or covered person under any other group, blanket, or franchise health insurance policy or individual health benefits plan, or is not entitled to benefits under Title XVIII of the Social Security Act.


    Coverage terminates at the end of the month the dependent turns 26.


    Coverage up to age 19, age 26 if they are full time students.
