Page ContentThe Volusia County Behavioral Initiative (VCBI) is a professional development system designed to assist individuals, schools and the district in planning effective behavioral practices. The primary purpose of VCBI is to train individuals and school teams on the use of preventative, proactive practices of student management. The major components are Behavioral Leadership Teams Academy and Behavior Continuum Training. Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) Leadership Team Training responds to school needs for reducing unnecessary referrals, improving climate, improving staff consistency in administering consequences for misbehavior, and improving behavior in classrooms, the cafeteria, hallways, and other common areas. Behavior Continuum Training provides ongoing, systematic teaching of social, school and academic behaviors both in classrooms and school-wide common areas. This professional development includes classroom assistance and coaching following the training. Trainings are offered throughout the school year and range from preventive, proactive techniques to direct intervention for challenging behavior.
