    2013-14 Budget Calendar

During the last five fiscal years, Volusia County Schools lost more than $80 million in state funding and made extensive budget reductions. The district’s 2013-14 budget began with a deficit of approximately $33.3 million.

Multiple workshops were held to review and discuss reductions and cost saving measures in order to balance the budget. View Budget Workshop Presentations.

Major cuts include a 5% cut to central office administration, subcontracting custodial and groundskeeping services, energy cost savings and utilizing fund balance reserves.  Next steps for the 2013-14 budget adoption:

June 25 – approval to advertise the tentative budget and millage rates

July 23 – public hearing and adoption of the tentative budget and millage rates

September 10 – public hearing and adoption of the final budget and final millage rates

All meetings will be held at 4 p.m. in the board room at the DeLand Administrative Complex, 200 N. Clara Ave., DeLand
